President’s Message
Summer is almost over and the fall Hunt Tests, Shows and season openings will be here before you know it! This has been a busy and productive summer for the GSPCI. Since the last newsletter, your club has participated in the Dock Dog Training session in cooperation with Indy Dock Dogs Club members at the home of Earl & Judy Schroeder. Many members came and enjoyed jumping their dogs and watching some more experienced dogs perform.
Several members came to the Indiana Club Fun Shoot as well as several members of the Brittany Club. No competition was held, but our gunners Larry Harris and Dave Bertram proved why they are recognized as some of the best Hunt Test gunners on the field. Chris Weber and his wife Mila did an excellent job of shooting as well.
Members of the Club were present at the Muncie Dog Show to represent the GSPCI at the meet the Breeds event.
Hopefully the dissension in the Club has been put to rest and we can get back to the business of promoting our breed and multiple events for the Club membership to enjoy.
Our next scheduled event is the Mock Hunt test Sept 16th at Glenns Valley. We will conduct this exactly as a real hunt test with braces, birds planted and over the same course as the real test which will be held Sept.30th and Oct. 1st. Experienced handlers will be there to assist first timers and help them thru the paces. Training will be allowed at this event. Please Email or contact me with your dogs name, sex, and level of training by Sept. 12th so we can make the braces and purchase birds. Your bird cost will be $10.00 per dog.
During lunch hour we will provide show handling demos & practice for those of your interested in getting started handling your dogs in conformation classes. At the end of the day, there will be a directors meeting and a general membership meeting at the Club house.
Your board of directors has appointed Allen Montgomery to fill the vacancy on the board. Allen brings lots of enthusiasm and new ideas to the position. Looking forward to seeing you at the Mock Test and the Hunt Test.

GSPC of IN Welcomes our newest members:
Please join me in welcoming these new GSPC of IN members: Ames Giegold from Garrett IN, Greg & Donna Jennings from Centerville OH, Ken Long from Kendallville IN, and Mark Strandquist from Carmel IN. Our membership tally is now up to 89.
A called board meeting was held at Town & Country Animal Clinic in Greenfield IN on August 13, 2006. There were 14 board members and chairpersons in attendance. Plans are being finalized for the upcoming fall hunt test on Sept 30 and Oct 1. Much interest was given to the idea of having a youth hunt. Several members have experience and could help by being in this mentor group. Our goal is to organize this for the very near future. The club still wants to do a field trial event, and we are possibly looking at next spring for the date. The show committee has been very busy with plans for the 2007 Indiana February specialty show and also the 2007 National April specialty show. The committee is asking for donations for the trophies for specialty events. The board hopes to do some mock hunt tests, mock show events, and they would like to hear from the membership about interest in obedience and agility activities. Alan Montgomery was appointed to fill a vacant board of director position. The board of directors would like to see positive effort made to move forward with club activities and the actions of all the membership to be in the best interest of the club. Bylaws have been made available to post on the club’s website and are to be available for download. The officers and board welcome any questions, concerns, or suggestions, and individual contact is recommended. The next board/general membership meeting is scheduled for Sept 16 at the Glenns Valley Conservation Club following the mock hunt test. All are invited to attend.
